August news is really about the new hall, the building of which has suddenly gained momentum. The walls shot up within weeks, the floor and platform was laid, doors and gutters were fitted. Painting is now the order of the day, and glazing will happen soon.

26 July dawned bright and clear as Mark Hannaway and I took an old church kombi across dust roads to the church of our intrepid interpreter / translator, Rev Lionel Makholwane. About 20 students turned up for our newest venture in TEE, aka the ‘primary level’. Pictured below are gifts of blankets and clothing from a supporting church, Fynnlands Baptist.

7-11 July falls during the school holidays, allowing school-teachers to participate in the program. (Conversely, of course, we get to miss the break!) Teaching at our 3rd SCBS this year was Anton Roos on 1 Corinthians, Mark Wesson on Ethics, Lionel Makholwane on Joshua and myself on Church Admin. Mark also presented the open lecture on Wed evening, tackling the ethics of ‘marriage’ from an intercultural perspective – it was well done.

11 July saw an extraordinary visit from GBM to the Bible School. Maciek Stolarksi heads the literature arm of this ministry and had already sent some of their book samples to us – it was great to put faces to the names! Travelling with the team was Ray, a pastor from Zimbabwe, who brought an impassioned plea to the student body that we pray for his country.
